General Summary:

The Direct Sales Manager leads a team of Direct Sales Representatives focused on developing new residential business and creating opportunities for additional business with existing customers. This role is responsible for the accountability and professional development of each member of the Direct Sales team.

The ideal candidate will be experienced with direct sales campaigns, growing and retaining a customer base and skilled at managing Direct Sales staff. Must be innovative and have entrepreneurial instincts that will foster the continuing growth of the company.

Essential Job Functions

  • Coordinates and executes sales campaigns within their assigned markets;
  • Expands market awareness through involvement in trade, commercial and community organizations;
  • Monitors work performance of Direct Sales Reps; provides coaching and counseling as necessary;
  • Conducts regular meetings (one-to-one) with staff to discuss current performance against goals and provide direction on how to improve results;
  • Provides ongoing training as needed to ensure staff is properly following departmental policies and procedures;
  • Facilitates new processes, tools, communications, training and methodologies to ensure sales team’s success across;
  • Works with others to facilitate relationships among members of the various departments and locations in order to achieve the organization’s goals and objectives;
  • Facilitates programs to gather requirements and features from customers to augment sales, marketing, development, support, product management, and business and technology partnerships, and others as needed;
  • Completely understands, represents, and competitively positions products and services to potential and current customers;
  • Remains knowledgeable and up to date on changes in the telecommunications industry through attendance of training, seminars and trade journals;
  • Sets monthly, quarterly, and annual sales requirements within the department;
  • Supports others within the sales/service team to achieve customer satisfaction;
  • Maintains all necessary information in CRM and other applications to report sales activity and customer information;
  • Travels to customer sites, project areas, business related events, and other Ritter Communications locations as required;
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned;

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of telecommunications industry including operations, technology, and equipment;
  • Knowledge of business sales principles and practices;
  • Knowledge of Company policies and procedures;
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office with ability to quickly learn other software as needed;
  • Skill in oral and written communication with strong presentation and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to lead and motivate diverse sales teams and with demonstrated ability to teach and coach, and develop them to attain their monthly sales and revenue goals;
  • Ability to communicate with customers, employees, and various business contacts in a professional and courteous manner;
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple work assignments;
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail;
  • Ability to make sound decisions using information at hand;
  • Ability to travel as required; valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record required;

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or related field required, or the equivalent in training and experience. Three to Five years of experience leading a successful Market Sales team preferably within the telecommunications or IT services industries.

Experience with Client Relationship Management (CRM) applications is a plus.
