Concrete is the second most used material on earth after water. Since its widespread usage by the ancient Egyptians, Chinese and Romans, it has always been a simple mix of cement, water, and aggregates. We use it to build our infrastructure, bridges, tunnels, houses, shelters, etc.

Since its invention, the ways how we use it or how we test it did not change drastically. Thanks to ConcR and its solution, we make an over 3000 years old dumb material smart. How?

With our IoT solution, we provide our customers with state-of-the-art wireless sensing devices and cloud-based monitoring and management tools to improve project management during construction work and enable remote maturity and quality monitoring of the concrete. We give the concrete a voice that helps the construction industry to increase the efficiency, improve the quality, and reduce the waste.

Since our customer and project base has been growing rapidly in the last year, we are seeking for an Embedded Software Engineer to join our development team on site in Berlin.

You are responsible for

• Co-designing, programming, and testing of the firmware of our IoT devices
• Co-working with the Engineering team on design of the operation, data acquisition and communication algorithms
• Work with the Network, Backend, and DevOps engineers to maintain and optimise the communication system between our IoT devices and our cloud infrastructure.
• Work with the team on testing the complete system
• Write unit/ integration/ functional tests and keep high code quality
• Research for, and evaluate new technologies to improve the processes or the code bases

Requirements

We are looking for engineers, who have

• A bachelor or higher degree in electronics engineering, embedded systems, control engineering, communications engineering, robotics, or similar fields
• +4 years’ experience with programming of microcontrollers, buses and communication protocols, memories, ADCs
• +4 years’ experience in C/ C++, Python, Unix shell
• Experience in programming system-on-chip modules (e.g. u-Blox, Nordic semiconductor, and Quectel RF modules for IoT)
• Experience with different communication protocols (TCP/ IP, MQTT, CoAP, etc)
• Experience with Real-time Operating Systems (e.g., FreeRTOS, Zephyr and Mbed OS) and Unix
• Dedication to delivering clean and stable code for 3+ years with experience in best practices for the entire SDLC.

Nice to have

• Good understanding of LTE with previous experience NB-IoT, LTE-M, or LORA.
• Previous experience with cloud services such as MS Azure or AWS.
