DESCRIPTION OF WORK

An EET is an entry level professional position in an environmental regulatory program. Assignments are given accordingly. An EET Provides technical support, with appropriate supervisory guidance, for preparation and issuance of National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permits; and negotiation of Orders and/or Consent Orders and Agreements for industrial cases involving discharges of industrial wastewater to waters of the Commonwealth. The position includes application of Water Quality Criteria and/or Technology-based effluent limitations in accordance with NPDES Permit issuance guidelines. If this position is filled as an Environmental Engineer Trainee, the incumbent will participate in a one-year formal and on-the-job training program to learn the duties of an Environmental Engineer Specialist.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment.
  • Work hours are 8:00am to 4:00pm, Monday – Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to X days a week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Pittsburgh.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering, or in any engineering field that includes or is supplemented by 9 credits in environmental engineering; or
  • One year of experience in environmental engineering, and possession of a valid Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists.

Condition of Employment: This position will require possession of a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license.
