Fiber Technician

WaveStar Networks is a National company operating in the communications industry.

We are currently looking for Fiber Optic technicians to join our growing team within the Halifax and surrounding area.

Duties and Responsibilities includes but not limited to:

· Read and comprehend communication design reports pertaining to work assigned.

· Provide status updates on projects to the Lead technicians daily and report any roadblocks that are expected.

· Able to identify problems, make a diagnosis, and make corrections as needed.

· Complete daily paperwork (update “as built” documents, time sheets etc.)

· Clean and maintain tools and equipment.

Skills Requirements

· Minimum 1 year previous Fibre splicing experience.

· Ability to work in a fast paced and physically demanding role, all while putting safety as a priority.

· Physically able to carry and lift a 28ft ladder.

· Ability to maneuver, lift and work with heavy objects/equipment in the field. (e.g. manhole covers, handwell lids)

· Demonstrate effective decision-making skills under pressure, as well as working efficiently under limited supervision.

· Comfortable working in confined spaces in commercial and residential buildings, as well as underground. Will train and certify

· Must be able to operate hand and power tools in a safe manner.

· Good communication skills with all crew members, as well as with clients of WaveStar.

· Ability to work as part of a team is a requirement at WaveStar Networks.

· Must be willing to work as part of a scheduled on call team, weekends and emergency call outs as required.

· Must be willing to take training courses as offered in order to fulfill safety requirements for the job.

· Must have valid Driver’s licence with clean drivers abstract.

· Must wear all Personal Protective Equipment.

· Previous Civil experience considered an asset

· Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
