Job Detail

This position is responsible for the administration and the support of the systems in an IBM i (AS/400) environment. The individual will collaborate with fellow-members, technical specialists (Operating system, Databases, telecommunication, security, Web applications) evolving/moving in a context in constant progression.

Your future duties and responsibilities

  • To set up, to configure and evolve the infrastructure system.
  • To install and manage the systems.
  • To ensure the performance of the systems and to follow-up on the components of the environment.
  • Support the daily maintenance activities of the systems;
  • Diagnose the problems, to propose and set up the solutions adapted to the customer requirements.
  • Take responsibility to record any service request or problem, to carry out the follow-up until its resolution.
  • To escalate problem, if necessary to the appropriate technical resources (internal systems administrators, suppliers).
  • To take part in the documentation of the technical solutions.
  • To update the technical procedures, escalation procedures and security.
  • Responsible for the systems analyses of the new needs for client.
  • To take part in the development of solutions aiming at the improvement of the processes concerning the support of the assigned customers.
  • Ensure the services offered according to the evolution of the needs for the customers and technological evolution.
  • To provide on-call support according to the schedule envisaged.
  • Support disaster recover tests, both internal and at supplier.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

10 years plus of progressive technical experience in the iSeries environment

10 years hands on experience with iSeries hardware and LPAR configuration

5 years hands on experience with communications configuration on the iSeries: TCP/IP Application Servers such as: SNMP, DDM, FTP, SMTP, HTTP; SSL, Encryption software, APPC connectivity, Virtual LAN and Opti-Connect, MQ experience,

5 years experience with resolving problems of a complex nature in a production environment

5 years hands on experience with performance analysis and capacity planning

Strong working knowledge of third party software and application environments

Experience in High Availability products and solutions

Possess strong skills as it pertains to current hardware and OS capabilities in the IBM I environment

Configuration and understanding VIOs/SAN/etc as it pertains to IBM i specifically

Patching of system and all components VIO/SAN/HMC and switches

Performance investigation skills for all IBM i and Power(x) components.

PPRC knowledge an asset

LIST OF SOFT SKILLS:

Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) in French and English

Ability to understand processes

Ability to work with minimal supervision

Ability to work in a team

Must be able to work effectively with multiple teams

Excellent attention to detail on all aspects of service delivery in order to meet Audit and Standard requirements

Well organized
