LQS App Developer:
Ciena’s customers run many of the largest telecommunications networks in the world connecting hundreds of millions of users. The Liquid Spectrum (LQS) team invents software tools and algorithms which empower owner operators to understand the state of their networks, plan for the future, and recognize opportunities for improving network performance. More than just algorithms, creating value requires us to work with and understand the people who use our tools. We employ a design centric approach where small teams construct fully functional web applications.
Requirements:
- Strong programming skills in Python and numpy
- 1 to 5 years of experience in a software development role
- Experience with software engineering practices and design (abstraction, modular code, object design, etc.)
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills (background in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Physics, etc.)
- Motivated self-starter with strong written and oral communications skills.
- Able to collaborate effectively in-person as well as remotely.
- Curiosity
Additional Assets:
- Experience with SQL
- Experience with cloud environments (e.g. Kubernetes, AWS, Openstack, etc.)
- Experience with micro-service architecture based platforms and REST based APIs
- Experience with any of the additional programming languages: Go, C++, Julia, Matlab
- UI development experience (Ember, React, Plotly Dash)
- Experience in developing numerical simulations and implementing optimization algorithms
- Knowledge of optical physics
- Knowledge of optical networking
