The Network Manager enables rapid growth, maintainability, scalability, and capabilities of Cal.net’s network by defining system reference architectures, playbooks, and standards for the network, provisioning, and monitoring systems, as well as vetting new network technology for the company. This individual will leverage an advanced level of knowledge and experience in IP Networking, Microwave, Fixed Wireless, and Passive Optical Network, Orchestration Systems, Software Systems, and Product Development to reach the goals of the position.
Focus:
· Define network reference architecture, and design rules during network design.
· Support engineering teams with complex problems during design, deployment, and maintenance phases of the lifecycle.
· Define test plans and evaluate new technologies to be considered for the company.
· Track bugs/issues and recommend new firmware revisions. Define test plans, create test automation, for new firmware.
· Contribute to the diagnosis and resolution of complex network problems.
· Define standards for design, configuration, and orchestration of network equipment and customer services.
· Participate in technical design meetings with peers to ideate new network features.
· Serve as part of the ’Tier 4’ support for the network, may be called upon after hours for a catastrophic event.
Skill Set:
- 9+ years of experience architecting, designing, deploying, and supporting network infrastructure.
- Hands-on experience implementing and administrating network devices and setting and maintaining policies and rights within a network environment.
· Technical understanding of telecom network hardware and components (IP Networks, L2/L3 wide area transports, passive optical networks, RSVP/MPLS-TE, BGP)
· Great analytical and problem-solving skills. Abstract thinker.
· Strong communication skills, both written and spoken.
· Self-starter, able to contribute to a self-organized team and to take initiative
Preferred Experience, Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in technical field such as networking, computer science, information technology, computer engineering, etc.
· 2+ Years WISP / Fixed Wireless / EPON
· Experience with Nokia (service router, wavence, airscale), Cambium, and Adtran AOS)
· Nokia Service Routing Architect Certification
· Ansible/Napalm/Python Automation
