Mini Excavator Operator – Telecommunications

This position is responsible for operating a mini ex for its intended purpose, with little or no assistance, in a safe and effective manner in order to minimize the risk of injury, property damage, or loss of life. The mini ex operator is responsible for daily cleaning, maintaining, and securing all equipment as directed by legislation, policies, and procedures. 13 to 24 months of experience in the field or sufficient experience to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position satisfactorily is required. Experience running fiber telecommunications utilities a plus.

Skills:

-Use of equipment as appropriate to level roads and/or working area, ensure proper drainage, and develop proper grade

-Must have proficient knowledge of truck and equipment safety

-Ability to operate a single axle truck in a safe and responsible manner

-Knowledge of road construction and maintenance techniques

-Experienced in equipment cleaning and standards and procedures

-Ability to read, write, and record activities in order to maintain daily records

Competencies:

-Able to meet the physical requirements of the position, which involves sitting, standing, bending, climbing, lifting, working at heights, in confined spaces, and in all types of weather conditions (rain, snow, heat, etc.)

Requirements:

-Must be at least 21 years old, have a valid US driver’s license with a clean driving record (no accidents in 3 years, no DUI in 5 years), and pass a drug and background screen.
