Network Administrator

Under the general direction of the Director of IT, this position designs, supports, maintains, and evaluates computer networking and telecommunication systems; installs configures, and maintains both physical and virtual computer servers; maintains associate network, e-mail accounts; performs other related duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

Network Administration / Server Support

  • Oversees the day-to-day functions of network operations and Cyber Defense Operations.
  • Manages the Process Improvement Plans for network operations and the Cyber Defense Scorecards.
  • Proactively monitors the readiness of the corporate firewall to defend against emerging Cyber threats.
  • Assists in coordinating special projects including network related wiring plans, LAN/WAN hardware/software purchases, and system installation, backup, maintenance, and problem solving.
  • Installs, supports, and maintains both physical and virtual network servers and appliances.
  • Installs, designs, configures, and maintains laptops, PC, and required software.
  • Analyzes and troubleshoots network logs and tracks the nature and resolution of problems.
  • Monitors usage to ensure security of data and access privileges.
  • Maintain and monitor daily backups.
  • Researches and evaluates new technologies related to network operations and Cyber Defense.
  • Assists in planning, coordinating, and consulting with vendors and clients for hardware/software purchases, product services and support; recommends and specifies the purchase of related services.
  • Assists and provides support to the IT Manager, WAN/LAN, and other technology staff as requested, including performing scheduled network tasks, updating anti-virus definition files, monitoring network servers, and providing internet and intranet user support, and specialized training.
  • Establishes and maintains Active Directory and Office 365 user accounts.
  • Serves as a member of the IT Help Desk Team including “on-call” rotation.
  • Trains new associates and, in special circumstances, certifies new ICs on system capabilities
  • Researches and troubleshoots e-mail problems by reviewing mail logs, records, and network configurations.
  • 5-10% Travel.
  • Flexibility to adjust schedule to meet business needs.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information engineering or other related areas
  • Possession of one or more relevant IT certifications is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in all areas of local and wide area networks management and administration, including system configuration, setup, troubleshooting, planning, designing, implementation, and user support.
  • Demonstrated experience in:

Installing and supporting Microsoft server technologies.
Supporting telecommunications equipment.
Management of switches, SD WAN and firewall.

  • Project management proficiency (certification preferred).
  • Skilled in identifying and solving problems. Independent decision making as well as impeccable documenting skills.

Physical requirements of this position include exertion of up to 40 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force as needed, to move objects.

A typical day’s activities include sitting for extended periods, standing, walking, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, lifting, reaching and typing; normal finger dexterity, visual acuity (with or without corrective glasses), hearing, talking, and grasping are also required to carry out essential functions. Associate is primarily subject to indoor conditions, with most work occurring inside. The Associate is subject to low to moderate noise levels, such that normal talking is required to be heard.
