POSITION SUMMARY
To design, develop, manage and maintain the district’s LAN, WAN, SAN, Wi-Fi, voice and data networks.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
∙ Bachelor’s degree from an accredited educational institution in computer science or related field, and three (3) years of successful relevant experience
∙ Or high school diploma and six (6) years of successful relevant experience, three (3) of which must have been in network support and related field
∙ Dedicated training and related certification in one or more leading network operating systems ∙ Valid Florida Driver’s License

WORK EXPERIENCE:
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
∙ Responsible for designing and managing the District’s LAN, WAN, SAN and Wi-Fi networks ∙ A strong understanding of network operating systems, network equipment and networking protocols is essential
∙ Working knowledge of server operating systems
∙ Working knowledge of operating systems
∙ Strong understanding of telecommunications systems including PBX, PRI/BRI, SIP trunking and, VoIP technology
∙ Working knowledge of Structured Cable Systems (SCS) including fiber optic cable plants ∙ Knowledge of URL filtering solutions
∙ Project management
∙ Ability to communicate clearly and precisely, orally and in writing
∙ Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of people and cooperatively as a member of a team
∙ Ability to analyze, troubleshoot, and provide solutions

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
∙ Maintains network security and configures and maintains firewalls for students and staff of Martin County School District
∙ Ensure compliance with Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA) and the Children’s Internet Protection Act (CIPA) via network security
∙ Configures and maintains routing and switching for all network traffic ensuring communication internally and externally for all Martin County School District students and staff
∙ Designs and manages Wi-Fi network, calculates coverage and capacity requirements and deploys solutions
∙ Troubleshoots all network related issues and provides solutions to network and telephony problems ∙ Monitors servers, switches, and other network devices through network management system ∙ Alert technicians of outages in network
∙ Design, maintain and update all district telephony infrastructure and structured cable systems ∙ Reviews architectural drawings for construction projects to ensure compliance with district’s structured cable system specifications
∙ Collaborate on all construction projects that involved structured cable systems
∙ Maintains liaison with vendors to ensure proper operation, installation and maintenance of the district’s networking/telephony equipment, hardware and software
∙ Provides direction to telecommunication and network technicians
∙ Member of the Disaster Recovery Team
∙ Perform other duties as assigned

Working Conditions: Normal office and school environment and /or classroom environment. This position is listed as “Essential” during a declared emergency and will be providing services that exceed their contractual obligations by working on days and at times when other District employees are not required to be on duty.
Physical Demands: Routine physical activity associated with normal office and school environment; requires travel from site to site. .
Heavy Work: Involves exerting up to 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Vision: (Which may be corrected) to read small print; view a computer screen for prolonged periods. Hearing: (Which may be corrected) to answer telephones and tolerate exposure to noisy conditions. Speech: To be understood in face-to-face communications; to speak with a level of proficiency and volume to be understood over a telephone.
Upper Body Mobility: Use hands and fingers to feel, grasp, and manipulate small objects; manipulate fingers, twist and bend at wrist and elbow; extend arms to reach outward and upward; use hands and arms to lift objects; turn, raise, and lower head.
Environmental Conditions: Encounter constant work interruptions; work cooperatively with others; work independently; work indoors.
Minimum Mental Requirements: Ability to read, write, understand, interpret and apply information at a moderately complex level essential for successful job performance; judgment and the ability to process information quickly; learn quickly and follow verbal procedures and standards; give verbal instruction; rank tasks in order of importance; copy, compare, compile and coordinate information and records.
