Job Summary
The primary objective of the Telecom Network Operations Center is to monitor CN networks for optimum availability, constant uptime, offering a Network secure infrastructure while controlling Network access and changes. As the initial point of contact, Telecom Network Operations member’s attempts to resolve as many problems as possible up front, minimizing the number of service calls forwarded to our technicians. The CN Telecom Network Operations Center provides first and second level support on Network Telecom hardware related issues using state-of-the-art monitoring tools; we strive to detect, isolate and otherwise circumvent network deficiencies before impact to the customer becomes evident. It is our responsibility to determine probable cause, route the problem to the appropriate individuals via our problem reporting system and monitor the progress of the problem until it is resolved and the customer is 100% satisfied. The CN Information Technology, Telecommunications department is responsible for the design, implementation and support of all Telecommunications services for CN. This includes all corporate data and telephony service as well as communications specific to the operation of the railway. Safety is critical in the railway and as such all Telecommunication team members are required to maintain the highest level of professionalism in the workplace.
Main Responsibilities
Transport Network Management
- Monitor CN Networks 7/24 (The work shifts include days, nights and weekends.)
- Provide level 1 & level 2 Incident solving support on all Telecom services.
- Track, follow up, coordinates work activities regarding Telecom incidents.
- Provide technical expertise to CN Field Technicians.
- Manage CN IT Telecom trouble tickets.
- Event Management of CN Core Transport Network.
- Manage and coordinate CN Fiber restoration and maintenance activities.
- Perform pro-active/preventive Telecom Network activities.
Requirements
Experience
- Hands on experience of telecommunications hardware and management platforms
- Technical experience in the field of telecommunications (5 years)
- Experience with telecom configuration, management and monitoring
- Experience in a NOC (Network Operation Center) 7/24 environment
- Experience in the different activities associated to fiber optic management
Education
- NRS I / Nokia Network Routing Specialist or CCNA or equivalent
