Responsibilities:

  • Installs and maintains outside fibre optic cable system
  • Works with various types of fiber splice enclosures
  • Fiber blowing from GLB through conduit or direct buried to customer premise and laying cable and conduit in the ground
  • Enters buildings, trenches, crawl spaces, manholes, handhole, and other confined spaces to accomplish job tasks
  • Completes all related administrative tasks, time and material reporting, inspection reports, inventory reports, etc.
  • Works indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Other duties as required by the Manager

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 1-year work experience with fiber line work, outside plant facilities
  • Knowledge of basic fiber optic theory, materials, and standards
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, teamwork, and collaborative abilities
  • Ability to perform the essential duties of the job which include lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs, clearly identifying colored cables, as well as working in adverse weather conditions
  • Associates may be required to work overtime, non-scheduled and as the needs of the project requirements
  • Certification in confined space and/or first aid CPR is an asset
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License and a good driver’s abstract
  • Must have an own vehicle, able to commute between office and work sites

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: $22.00-$30.00 per hour

  • Monday to Friday
  • Weekend availability

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • GTA, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
