Responsibilities:
- Installs and maintains outside fibre optic cable system
- Works with various types of fiber splice enclosures
- Fiber blowing from GLB through conduit or direct buried to customer premise and laying cable and conduit in the ground
- Enters buildings, trenches, crawl spaces, manholes, handhole, and other confined spaces to accomplish job tasks
- Completes all related administrative tasks, time and material reporting, inspection reports, inventory reports, etc.
- Works indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions
- Other duties as required by the Manager
Qualifications:
- Minimum 1-year work experience with fiber line work, outside plant facilities
- Knowledge of basic fiber optic theory, materials, and standards
- Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, teamwork, and collaborative abilities
- Ability to perform the essential duties of the job which include lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs, clearly identifying colored cables, as well as working in adverse weather conditions
- Associates may be required to work overtime, non-scheduled and as the needs of the project requirements
- Certification in confined space and/or first aid CPR is an asset
- Must have a valid Driver’s License and a good driver’s abstract
- Must have an own vehicle, able to commute between office and work sites
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: $22.00-$30.00 per hour
