Responsible for managing the Service Design strategy and associated Service Designers aligned to a product portfolio. Aligning overall portfolio plan with Release Train Engineers, as well as managing Service Design activity in a given project squad. Bring together a virtual team of Digital, Customer Experience, Network, IT and Business stakeholders to design and realise the end to end experience for the products, services or propositions within your remit.

Your strong leadership skills will allow you and your team to deliver Service Designs with speed, quality and efficiency. You will advocate new ways of working and support your portfolio to achieve those goals. Your strong stakeholder management skills will allow you to work across multiple teams and at different levels of the organisation to understand existing processes and obtain support for your proposals. Your written and verbal communication skills will be exemplary.

You will ensure that you deliver a high standard of management, coaching and mentoring to enable the Service Designers within your portfolio to achieve the high standards set. Supporting the wider function by identifying and developing best-practice that will enable the team to work smarter, as will your use of agile techniques.


What will you be doing?

  • Take full, overall accountability for the service design integrity and quality across the product portfolio.
  • Ensure strategic alignment of the Service Designs at a product portfolio level.
  • Create end to end service designs for products, services or propositions. Obtaining input and approval from the relevant stakeholders, and ensuring that the network, service and related operational support requirements are fully captured, understood, agreed, consistent and communicated according to the company standards.
  • Responsible for Service Design resource management within the Portfolio. Including both FTE and external contractors. Ensuring that work packages are developed and milestones achieved in a timely manner.
  • Manage Service Designers with the portfolio. Both at H and G band level. Develop, mentor and coach team members to improve quality and standards within the Service Design function. Conducting 121s, performance reviews and Goal setting.


Who are we looking for?

  • Experience of delivering complex Service Designs spanning multi-product solutions.
  • Demonstrable and recent track record of delivering service designs that span multi-disciplinary areas, preferably in a large telecommunications or IT environment.
  • Ability to understand a wide range of disciplines in enough detail to communicate effectively with experts in those areas, for example: sales, order management, provisioning and assurance processes, billing and operations.
  • Experience of developing, coaching or mentoring people to improve their ways of working.
  • Experience developing and introducing complex change into operational and sales environments.
