Job Description

You will apply your specialized expertise and advanced technical skills in system level communication engineering expertise to provide pre-sales technical consultancy to existing and prospective customers to add value and drive revenue.

- Anticipate and uncover customer challenges, then solve them by applying engineering skills and delivering on-point solutions to delight the customer.
- Serve as system and systems integrations expert while performing communication system design, integration and testing for Intelsat General Products and custom solutions
- Perform feasibility analysis to develop value solutions that intersect customer needs and Intelsat strategies.
- Identify customer needs and drivers both technically and financially and collaborate with internal teams through customer assessments, proposal development and the delivery of effective communications.
- Develop and maintain trusting and collaborative technical customer relationships, both internally and externally.
- Apply Systems Engineering principles for product development as well as fault detection, isolation and recovery.
- Independently and collaboratively, develop solutions to complex problems when needed.
- Continuously seek to educate and train others on Intelsat products, tools, and operations.
You should definitely have:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Telecommunications Engineering OR demonstrated experience
- A minimum of seven (7) years of relevant experience with prior military, government, or government support contractor experience
- At least 5-years relevant experience including in communication system development, satellite ground segment, and/or system integration, experience in capacity management and/or systems engineering and/or other engineering functions.
- Advanced knowledge of digital network communications and RF signal theory, digital satellite network architectures, IP networking. In addition, in-depth knowledge of VSAT networks and platforms as well as TCP/IP protocol suite and network protocols (unicast/multicast, VoIP, IPsec, QoS).
- Develop and integrate into operational systems various satellite communications subsystems, including the RF, baseband, and ground network equipment elements.
- Knowledge on the specifications and differences between various satellite frequency bands (L, C, Ku-band, etc.) and the qualities of on each signal band in various applications
- Well-developed systems engineering and decision making skills required, including: recognition of critical vs non-critical requirements, ability to present complex issues in clearly written language, ability to use diagrams, tables, or figures to improve the presentation of technical material, and the acumen to ensure key business issues are addressed consistent with the organization’s goals and objectives.
- Prior knowledge or work experience in performing system trade studies, performing requirements analysis, interface management and documentation, and/or development and implementation of verification and validation plans and procedures.
- Good software skills with prior experience in Windows, SharePoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
- Ability to analyze complex situations and utilize problem-solving abilities, under pressure.
- Ability to learn new communications technologies quickly and apply as needed to resolved problems
- Strong attention to detail, self-starter with the ability provide results through excellent time management skills.
- Excellent verbal, written, analytical and communication/presentation skills including the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers and ability to interact effectively with people of various cultural backgrounds.
- Skills to develop and maintain trusting and collaborative technical customer relationships, both internally and externally.
- The ability to obtain US government clearance, which requires US citizenship
It would be nice if you had:
- Experience performing Design, Build, Operation and Maintenance of iDirect Evolution, iDirect Velocity or Newtec Hub networks.
- Ability to fully engineer end-to-end network solutions including the RF subsystems and ground network architecture to support customer specific requirements.
- Ability to develop and integrate into operational systems various satellite communications subsystems, including the RF, baseband, and ground network equipment elements.
- Skills to configure and troubleshoot satellite modems, VSAT terminals, Cisco/Juniper routers, firewalls, LAN switches, and VoIP gateways.
- Configure, operate, and effectively interpret results from test equipment including Spectrum Analyzers, Signal Generators, Network Analyzers, and LAN and WAN test sets.
- Background in preparing technical responses, network diagrams, and equipment costs for service quotations and proposals.
- Skills to provide support and training to customers and internal staff as necessary, including the development of technical training materials.
- Prior experience coordinating with Program Management and third-party/external program vendors and/or contractors to support the shipping, integration, installation and testing of equipment and service.
- Knowledge of OpenAMIP and its application in mobile VSAT terminals during Fixed, COTM, COTP and Aero operations would be a plus.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $120,000.00 – $135,000.00 per year
