he Project Superintendent will oversee the construction of NANA’s Regional Broadband Network (NRBN), a regional fiberoptic network connecting the eleven tribal villages in the Northwest Arctic Borough of Alaska. This work is funded by a grant from the US Department of Commerce, National Telecommunications and Information Administration, and NANA Regional Corporation. The Project Superintendent will be responsible for all aspects of the installation of middle mile fiberoptic cables, landing stations, and last mile WISP deployment. This will include project management, leading and coordinating teams (employees and subcontractors) in marine & terrestrial survey, environmental assessment, permits, and wet plant & WISP deployment efforts (including design, integration, installation, and testing), schedules, risks, and contracts. The individual will report directly to the Broadband Program Director.

* Position can be based in Anchorage or Kotzebue, AK.*

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical or communications engineering or related technical discipline.
  • 10 years of progressive project management experience in telecommunications installation and modernization. 5 years must be in fiberoptic installation.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Must have the ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, written technical instructions and manuals.
  • Must be familiar with shipborne fiberoptic cable laying, directional drilling, and civil construction procedures.
  • Must be familiar with safety procedures, to include OSHA and USCG. Current OSHA 30-certification or the ability to obtain.
  • Must be familiar with environmental protection and other preservation procedures, to include Clean Water Act, National Environmental Protection Act, Clean Air Act. Familiarity with Antiquities Act and Alaska State Historic Preservation Act.
  • Demonstrated oral and written communications skills.
  • Advanced computer skills in the MS Office Suite (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
  • Willing and able to travel up to 35% of the time.
  • Valid driver’s license with and acceptable driving record to be eligible under NANA’s vehicle insurance policy.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $150,000.00 – $200,000.00 per year
