RF FIELD TECHNICIAN

The Radio Frequency (RF) Field Technician installs, maintains, and upgrades RF systems in an outdoor environment for industrial clients including utilities, municipalities and others. Equipment utilized can include the following industrial LTE gateway and routers, microwave point to point systems, two-way radios, and other radio equipment. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to troubleshooting, lines, routers, antennas and other equipment.

This position requires extensive travel across New York State, in an outdoor environment, and may involve aerial work in bucket trucks/man lift.

Field Technicians are adventurers and road warriors and may be traveling Monday through Friday. Entry level opportunities available for candidates willing to learn.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

These duties can be performed with or without accommodation:

  • Follows detailed method of procedures (MOP) and practices to perform routine maintenance on all radio interface equipment.
  • Performs installation of radio and ancillary equipment at client sites.
  • Performs site surveys, documents findings and evaluate site candidates.
  • Troubleshoots IP networking issues.
  • Troubleshoots AC and DC power systems.
  • Provides service delivery and assurance of all radio interface network elements.
  • Responsible for installation/repair and maintenance of antenna systems, base systems, battery back-up systems, broadband and microwave systems.
  • Performs quality control to ensure the site is fully commissioned and meets design specifications.
  • Updates and/or creates documentation as required.
  • Attends program/project team meetings.
  • Travels to client site as need, approximately 75% travel mostly within the state of New York. Percentage of travel may vary based on client needs.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Previous telecommunications experience, construction experience and/or strong mechanical aptitude is a plus.
  • Knowledge in Microwave, SCADA communications, Cellular, Broadband Industries.
  • CCENT, CCNA or similar certification is a plus
  • CPR/AED and Certification preferred; if not certified, Council Rock will provide certification training at time of hire.
  • OSHA-10 certification preferred; if not certified, Council Rock will provide certification training at time of hire.

  • Valid driver’s license and the ability to drive long distances on and off road and to tow trailers

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • This role is routinely exposed to outdoor work environment year-round.
  • Ability to lift and carry a minimum of 50 pounds independently and up to 90 pounds with assistance, if necessary.
  • This position requires physical dexterity.

Compensation: Salary and Benefits (Compensation is based on experience)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $23.00 – $28.00 per hour
