RF Maintenance Technician

WaveStar Networks is currently looking to add a number of Outside Plant RF/Cable Maintenance Technicians to our teams with the GTA region. These positions are not residential installations, but are for the repairing, rebuilding and preventive maintenance activities of outside coax cable telecommunications networks for our customer, Canada’s largest cable company. This is a full-time position.

With head offices located in Richmond Hill ON, WaveStar Networks is a Canadian company with over 15 years’ experience providing a wide array of network infrastructure and communication system services as well as professional and consulting services to telecommunication/ISP providers, data centre operators and corporate/business/public sector customers.

Responsibilities

• Based on WOs or results from test equipment, identify faults within the CATV distribution and trunk systems and perform repairs, adjustments or replacements
• Operate test equipment to ensure proper signal levels
• Maintain RF plant and network integrity through preventive maintenance
• Locate, expose, and repair various faults in various types and sizes of telecommunication coaxial cables
• Install telecommunications equipment
• Responsible for personal quality of workmanship and taking all necessary precautions to prevent service disruptions. Report any know quality issues to the Lead Technician.
• Wear all appropriate safety gear, be aware of and observe all on-site safety practices. Report hazards or unsafe working practices to team lead.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience of power, sweep, and full build of Coaxial plant, and Node work is an asset
• Ability to read and understand construction plans and connectivity drawings
• Able to interpret Telecommunication Blueprints, Schematics and Specs and able to install equipment to specification.
• Familiarity with our customer’s Cable plant (Rogers) is an asset
• Good communication skills with the ability to work independently or on a team.
• Able to lift 70lbs and work from heights (28′ extension ladders)
• Able to complete the necessary training for working at heights and confined space and pass all applicable examinations.
• Must have a valid Ontario Driver’s licence
• Fulltime access to personal vehicle
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions year round
