The Role

The Pre-Sales Manager is a strategic role within Hansen’s Pre-Sales team, working to grow and develop Hansen Customer relationships by securing the product/technology selection.

Reporting to the Director of Strategic Sales, Global, the Pre-Sales Manager will deal with top tier Communications providers, working on complex and innovative solutions. The Pre-Sales Manager role involves managing the Sales cycle of major client proposals by providing specialist knowledge, expertise and experience to enhance and ensure high quality information is presented to our existing and prospective Clients. Your activities will include managing a team of pre-sales consultants and taking ownership of client relationships to present and coordinate the responses on all aspects of the Technical engagement. This will ensure that our client’s technical requirements are captured, an overall high-level technical solution is identified, the best possible positioning of Hansen’s product set is defined and a proposal of an appropriate solution to the client’s requirements presented back through a variety of appropriate media.

Key Responsibilities

  • People Management – Ensuring overall employee satisfaction of the pre-sales consulting team. This would include determining job growth activities such as training and certification, reviewing and refining process to streamline pre-sales processes, open communication with pre-sales team to keep them informed of operational and business related changes, and performing annual employee review related processes
  • Demo Environment Management – Overseeing the upgrading and overall operations of the multiple demo environments. Coordinating with Hansen Global IT on environment creation, code updates, Cloud management, etc. Operating as the central point of contact on technical environments to ensure a success, issue free, demonstrations to prospects
  • Pre-Sales process – Overseeing the pre-sales process and ensuring pre-sales consulting team have successful engagement with prospects. This would include the following areas:
    • Delivery of technical and functional product demonstrations
    • Understanding prospects’ business problems and map them to the ideal Hansen solution
    • Present complex, technical solution & architectural concepts to key decision makers to address their business challenges
    • Compiling RFI/RFx responses & bid management of large solution proposals
    • Ensure that proposals are technically sound, deliverable, competitive and representative of market leadership in the application of technology to addressing business issues
    • Coordination of complex PoCs and integrated custom demos
    • Perform as an experienced pre-sales professional who is as comfortable presenting systems architecture to a room of enterprise architects, as you are explaining the business value of our solutions to C-level executives
    • Present compelling Hansen solutions whilst supporting strong partner relationships
    • Comfortable working with large top tier prospects across the globe either onsite or remote.
    • Lead requirements, architecture, design, and workshop sessions with prospects and with use of internal resources
    • Perform consultation, implementation, documentation and knowledge transfer to Hansen’s Professional Services team
    • Stay up to date on emerging technologies, products, and industry trends, including attaining certifications and participation in industry events as appropriate including white papers and speaking engagements
    • Bring new ideas and methodologies to improve the Pre-Sales organisation
    • Provide product input on features and functionality, in conjunction with Product Management

Education & Experience

  • Proven people manager working with technical consulting resources
  • Architectural experience across the BSS/OSS Telecoms domain (preferred)
  • Proven experience working with customers in a consulting role, driving requirements capture and documentation using a Use Case oriented approach. Must have experience with use case driven development and use case modeling
  • Detailed product knowledge in at least one of the following applications: Enterprise Product Catalog, CPQ or Order Management (preferred)
  • Flexible, dynamic, creative, and a quick learner
  • Proactive, able to take initiative and operate independently
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to influence internal resources and customers to achieve successful results, collaborative
  • Outstanding problem-solving skills
  • Excellent English written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills; effective presentation skills
  • Proven ability to achieve challenging goals and objectives
  • Able to prioritise multiple tasks to make effective use of time
  • Able to develop strong cross-cultural business relationships; team player
  • Able to travel 50% of the time both domestic and internationally
  • BA/BS in computer science, engineering or equivalent. Advanced degree a plus
