The Satellite Communications (SATCOM) Technician will provide operational & maintenance support for satellite-based and terrestrial telecommunication systems terminals CONUS.

The SATCOM Technician will provide in-depth technical support in the following areas: RF system maintenance, IP network operation, audio and video operation, presentation, and maintenance with a special interest on satellite communications. The candidate should possess a good working knowledge of all aspects of satellite communications to include but not limited to basic satellite theory, link analysis, antenna performance, modulation/demodulation techniques, digital signal processing, multiple access techniques, video transmission and TCP/IP techniques.

This position will be working the mid-shift from 1:00pm – 9:00pm. On the job training and support will be provided to the right candidate.

Responsibilities:

· Performing satellite station maintenance and operations

· Equipment rack layout and antenna systems documentation

· Configuration Management including maintaining inventory assets

· Accomplishment of regular preventative and corrective system maintenance

· Working with hand and power tools

· Climbing ladders and antenna support structures (under 40′)

· Tracking logistics shipments and return of RMAs

· Preparing of feed line and waveguide connection and terminations

· Installation and fabrication of conduit

· Soldering connections with a high degree of proficiency

· Using Digital Multimeters, Oscilloscopes, Power Supplies, Power Meters, Signal Strength Meters, Couplers, Attenuators, Dummy Loads and Spectrum Analyzers

Skills/Qualifications:

· Must be able to receive Secret Clearance

· Associate Degree in Electronics Communications, Information Technology, Electronics Engineering or related field or equivalent military training in satellite

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills

· Ability to problem solve, make independent decisions with minimal oversight, set and meet deadlines

· Exceptional customer service skills; have a positive, optimistic approach.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word, and Visio

· Ability to maintain and troubleshoot satellite equipment

· Solution-oriented with the ability to resolve system problems and manage customer expectations

· Understanding of Audio and Visual Broadcast equipment in High-Definition Standards

· IT Networking troubleshooting in a TCP/IP environment using primarily Cisco equipment

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 – $65,000.00 per year
