Hours: Monday – Friday – Shifts: 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.

Position Overview:
Under the supervision of the Supervisor of Security, operates a state-of-the-art healthcare security and emergency control center. This position operates radio, telephone and various other tele-communications equipment to receive and relay information to the security services provider’s staff operating within Halton Healthcare.

The dispatcher prioritizes and assigns emergency and non-emergency service calls to front line security staff and coordinate with the Security Team Leaders often in stressful situations. Maintains logs and records of all activity as required in the dispatch and mobile records management system. Provides information to internal healthcare staff, municipal emergency services and other agencies as required.

This is what you’ll be doing:
Coordinates daily security staff operation with Team Leaders

Directly coordinate security’s response to large or critical incidents with the Team Leaders

Process and dispatch Security staff to all emergency codes, urgent and non-urgent service requests in accordance with the Emergency Response Plan and Standard Operating Procedures

Answer emergency calls to identify nature and urgency of the request

Utilizing written and verbal mass-notification systems to provide situational awareness to relevant stakeholders

Monitor all life safety systems and take appropriate action as outlined in hospital polices and procures

Using the CCTV systems conduct or assist in the investigations as required

Maintain privacy and confidentiality in all investigations

Assist Police and Corrections in investigation when authorized by Security management

Report and document all finding in the appropriate manner in both written and in departmental software applications

Monitor of the Fire Panel to co-ordinate First Stage, Second Stage and Evacuation and alarms as well as make site wide communications where required.

Co-ordinate response with local Emergency Services as required

Monitoring and Operation of CCTV systems, reviewing footage and assisting in investigations as directed by management

Monitoring of Connexall, Honeywell, P2000/Milestone systems, including system administration and alarm monitoring of doors, access points and swipe readers, emergency alarms from all sites

Operate effectively with radios, call signs, 10 codes, phonetic alphabet and always use proper radio and phone etiquette.

Maintain accurate account of shift activities and incidents utilizing the dispatch and incident reporting software, Ominigo dispatch and mobile records management system and daily shift report.

Assist with scheduling related tasks as directed by Management.

Daily/Nightly filing of all appropriate paper work.

Comply with all Standard Operating procedures, Emergency Response Codes and hospital policies

Provide administrative, customer service and operational support to Parking operations

Complete all training, projects, additional duties and functions as directed by Management

Minimum Grade 12 education required

Post-Secondary college certificate or diploma in Emergency Telecommunications, or a combination of education in a related field and experience

Excellent spoken and written English communication skills to effectively communicate to various audiences in a clear and concise manner

Mental Health First Aid Certificate issued by recognized provider to be completed within 3 months of hire

Emergency Management Ontario IMS 100 completed within 3 months of hire

Experience working in an organization that requires the candidate to interact with advanced life safety, security and tele-communication systems with a centralized dispatch environment

Demonstrated ability to adapt and react to stressful and emotionally disturbing situations in a calm and professional manner

Well organized and efficient at multi-tasking and thrive in a fast-paced environment
