We are now looking for a committed and motivated ASIC & FPGA Design Engineer located in Rosenheim, Germany, to drive research and early technology development in our Radio ASIC Domain. You and the team will focus on antenna related signal processing blocks implemented in ASIC, FPGA and / or structured ASIC circuit technology, developing the next generation of our algorithmic solutions.
We are working on all horizons: from the device technology to the package implementation, from novel designs and architectures to the end module prototype.
What you will do
In this role you will be responsible to implement the control structure of the advanced signal processing algorithms into HW for our radio base stations. You will use description language (HDL) with tasks spanning from first concept via design, modelling and analysis until implementation and verification. Your tasks will include but are not limited to:
- Gather and understand requirements as well as translate those into effective signal processing implementations to meet the expectations of our customers
- Design and implement advanced signal processing algorithms in HW using a mix of traditional RTL design techniques and high-level description language (HLS)
- Actively participate in algorithm development for the RF transmitter and receiver including developing, verifying and validating algorithms
- Implement FPGAs for Digital Radio front end
- Work closely with experts and senior specialists to drive improvements by identifying new opportunities based on expansion of existing as well as building new solutions.
- Cooperation with system / digital / analog / SW interfaces during development
- Investigate new technologies and propose new projects
- Work in a fast-paced collaborative environment developing groundbreaking advanced signal processing solutions
- Write technical design documentation for all your designs
You will bring
- A Master’s Degree or PhD in electrical engineering, engineering physics or an equivalent qualification
- 5+ years of relevant professional experience are particularly advantageous
- Sound knowledge and demonstrated experience in planning and implementing control structures in ASICs and FPGAs using description language (HDL)
- Experience from concept development through implementation and integration for ASIC and FPGA
- Experience with Xilinx Virtex & Stratix FPGA, or equivalent
- Good knowledge of synthesis (e.g. Synplify, Synopsys DC) and place & route (e.g. Vivado, Quartus)
- Very good programming skills (Matlab, SystemVerilog / SystemC, Tcl, Python, C/C++)
- Enjoy working in a lab environment and taking responsibility from implementation to verification on target
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills with a passion for teamwork and collaboration
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken
Following proficiencies complement your profile
- Knowledge in the field of processor architectures
- Competence within signal processing, telecommunication and radio technology
- Knowledge of HLS (e.g. Catapult HLS, Stratus HLS, Vivado HLS)
- Experience in working with vector engine type DSP’s
