HMI Utilities
Experience:
Experience with manhole working environments, rodding, roping, stringing conduits with fiber or cable, and leading an UG Fiber placing crew. Experience working with telecommunication cable is required. OSHA 10 or 30 is preferred. Competent person and or Confined space certifications a plus.
Responsibilities:
To lead a crew responsible for placing large count fiber cables in existing duct banks within manholes. Assist with the handling and placement of conduit, innerducts, pull tape and fiber optic cables. Maintaining safe work practices per OSHA and Company policies. Other duties as assigned by the Construction Manager.
Qualifications:
Must be minimum of 21 years old to drive company vehicles/operate company equipment
Minimum 5 years’ experience in telecommunications required
Comfortable digging around existing utilities
Able to read typical telecommunication blueprints
Familiar with state locate laws
Must be able to effectively communicate and lead a crew.
Be available to work occasional overtime and emergencies, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Must maintain a positive attitude.
Must maintain good public relations by being patient, poised, compassionate and civil with the crew, supervisors, clients, clients customers and the general public.
Must have reliable transportation to and from the work site.
Must have the ability to use small power and hand tools.
Must have strong physical endurance for hot, cold and wet weather conditions, repetitive bending, stooping, lifting, transferring equipment and materials up to 75 pounds.
Must pass a pre-employment drug screening.
Must pass a background check.
Must Possess a clean Valid Driver’s License.
A DOT medical card, as a minimum, is required and can be secured within 30 days of beginning employment.
