Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) has an immediate opening for a Telecommunications Analyst I or II located at the York Operations Center in York, Nebraska. Position closes April 12, 2023, at 11:59 p.m. Central Time.
Position Summary
The Telecommunications Analyst I or II will be the first responder for faults related to Bulk Electric System SCADA, Bulk Electric System piloted relaying, the Nebraska Statewide Radio System, as well as all NPPD telecommunications equipment and systems. This includes after hours response via callout. Analysts are required to carry a cell phone and/or pager. The incumbent will be responsible for coordination and tracking of all telecommunications related issues as reported by customers, other business units, and telecommunication engineers/technicians. This position is responsible for monitoring and reviewing various management systems. This includes documentation, analysis, and coordination of resolution to complex problems.
Additional duties included by incumbent include but are not limited to:
Project completion/coordination
Follow and maintain all security procedures and practices as related to responsible systems. Mentor other telecommunications technicians
Due to requirement to meet customer service level agreements, living distance from the Technical Operation Center is required to be less than 30 minutes.
Education, Training and Experience
Telecommunications Analyst I – This is the entry level position for those qualified but with little prior experience. Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Engineering, or related field (OR) an Associate’s degree in Electronics, Engineering, or related field.
Telecommunications Analyst II – Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics, Engineering, or related field (OR) an Associates Degree in Electronics, Engineering, or related field (AND) 3 years of electronics, telecommunications, engineering, or related experience.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Telecommuncations Analyst I
Monitoring of real-time and logged network management systems.
First response for Bulk Electric System SCADA failures, Bulk Electric System piloted protective relaying, the Nebraska State Radio System, and all Telecommunications equipment and systems.
Track and coordinate telecommunications troubles.
Track and coordinate telecommunication projects assigned to the operations group.
Follow all change management and security procedures/practices. This includes various NERC standards as well as industry best practices.
Serve as a technical resource for telecommunication technicians/engineers as well as other business units.
Responsible for monitoring and frontline troubleshooting of NPPD critical telecommunications systems supporting the Bulk Electric System (BES), Centralized Customer Care Center (CCCC), Security Operations Center (SOC), and Nebraska Statewide Radio System.
Responsible for monitoring and frontline troubleshooting of NPPD’s corporate IP network including all WAN/LAN systems.
Responsible for compliance of remote access control to secured systems.

Proficient in all duties of a Telecommunications Analyst I
Responsible for compliance of remote access control to secured systems.
Assist Telecom Supervisor in maintaining and accounting for spare telecommunications equipment.
Maintain and support the Telecommunications Simulation Center.
Coordinate between business units and departments for the resolution of faults and inquiries not necessarily related to telecommunications systems.
Maintain and update telecommunication documentation and drawings.
Accountable for other duties as assigned.

Salary Information – Nebraska Public Power District offers a competitive starting salary with opportunities for growth.
Telecommunications Analyst I – Pay Grade – 11 Hourly
Typical Pay Grade Starting Salary Range: $30.34 – $37.93
Telecommunications Analyst II – Pay Grade – 12 Hourly
Typical Pay Grade Starting Salary Range: $34.20 – $42.75
Travel Required: Up to 25% (With no or minimal overnight stays, less than 3 per month, typically within state of Nebraska) Travel required may fluctuate by business need. This is an estimate and will be discussed further with candidates that receive an interview.
