Middlebury Regional EMS
Middlebury Regional EMS is hiring both full-time and part-time Communications Operators, preferably with an EMT or AEMT who can be crossed trained in our Communications Center. The candidates will be able to take shifts as a medical provider and work in the dispatch center. The Communication Center currently dispatches for 10 agencies and has several other Fire and EMS agencies requesting our services in the next 6 months. The communications position supports incoming, outgoing, inter organization, and interdepartmental calls to and from Middlebury Regional EMS. We receive calls from a call center, gather all pertinent information and dispatch appropriate units to the calls. Working under general direction and within established protocols, operators perform tasks utilizing various telecommunication equipment including emergency code alarms, monitoring of security cameras, radio-paging system, and secure provider paging system. Answers all incoming calls, both internal and external to the main switchboard; places page calls; handles patient information and dispatches appropriate emergency units, including fire, EMS, and helicopters. Answers stat and code alarms and pages appropriate personnel immediately. Persons in this position coordinate emergency code responses; assuring the proper personnel are notified of emergency conditions throughout the County. This position also researches patient and staff information from various computer systems and is responsible for overhead audio paging and electronic paging of individuals and groups via a wireless paging system. Additionally, this position is required to use two-way radios and various emergency communication’s equipment.
Dispatching at Middlebury Regional EMS can be a fast paced and exciting environment, never knowing when the next call will come in, and what kind of situation will be on their other end of that phone call. This position, once trained, may involve working overnights and evenings, to include rotating weekends and holidays. Training would occur on day and evening shifts. Prioritization, multitasking and being able to think on your feet are all qualities that make for a great dispatcher.
No dispatch experience necessary, we will train the right person.
Hourly rate commensurate with experience. Night shift differential from 1900-0700.
One full-time position with benefits will be offered to the right candidate.
