Under the general direction of the Senior Manager, I&IT Infrastructure Support the Telecommunications Coordinator will provide coordination and administration of overall telecommunications services and equipment requirements for all Metrolinx corporate operating divisions and their business users / facilities.

What Will I Be Doing?

  • Acting as primary point of contact to the IT service desk and 3 rd party contractors to serve as the first point of escalation for service request provision and coordination of all cellular services, including smart phones, air cards, MACD requests for wireline/wireless communication devices and services
  • Provides overall direction to EUC L1 support staff on new devices activations, billing, auditing etc
  • Install and support Corporate Applications on Smartphones, iPads and Android devices. Support and training to Metrolinx users inclusive of logging, reporting and resolving issues related to applications, hardware and carrier services in accordance with I.T Incident and Change Management processes.
  • Comprehensive administration of billings for all telecommunications equipment and services, including cellular devices, telecommunications and network services inclusive of legacy voice, data and VoIP/IP.
  • Provides support for telecom expense management systems to ensure consistency, quality, reliability, and integrity on Billing.
  • Coordinates, documents and maintains records of Metrolinx end-user Work Requests, for cellular telecommunications equipment or services move, adds changes and deletions (MACD) and meet defined SLA’s in I.T. Service Desk Management tool (Service NOW).
    • Retrieve billing and usage records from service providers and archive methodically and logically.
  • Analyze cost, usage and services data and produce scheduled and ad hoc reports. Reports are tailored for technical, non-technical and finance staff.
  • Review and approve invoices from telecom and network service providers via Telecommunications Expense Management (TEM) tool. This includes distribution and allocation of charges to accounting codes for OPEX and CAPEX.
    • Use industry standard 3-way match process and processing invoices in Oracle.
    • Understanding of accounting practices such as accruals, charge back, journal entries etc
  • Works with Sr Telecom Analyst and the Manager I&IT Infrastructure Support to help improve telecom productivity, reduce risks, support operational efficiency, effectiveness, and economy towards telecom
  • Provides support on new Hardware, Software and New I&IT telecom related initiatives.
  • Ensure mobile security compliance and remediate issues such as intrusion, harassment etc
  • Generate management reports based on categories such as: Track actual spend to budget and provide Quarterly and Annual reports (and adhoc)

What Skills & Qualifications Do I Need?

  • Knowledge of Information Technology – Telecommunications, normally attained through completion of a 3-year College Diploma in Communications Management with specialization in voice communication technologies, or a combination of education and experience deemed to be equivalent. Must be able to obtain job-related certifications as required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of knowledge and experience with industry standard voice and data services – MPLS, P2P, POTS, DSL etc.
  • Knowledge and Certification in Information Technology with specialization in Telecommunications, normally attained through completion of a College Diploma in Telephony/Networking/VoIP Systems is considered an asset.
  • Experience with Cisco VoIP and Microsoft TEAMS are assets.
  • Knowledge and experience with cloud-based Telecommunications Expense Management Software is considered be an asset.
  • Knowledge and experience with I.T. System Change, Incident and Enterprise Asset management / Administrative management system and Service NOW.
  • Knowledge and experience with management of wireless services in a medium to large enterprise environment.
  • Experience with telecom service providers portals.
  • Intermediate to Advanced skills in MS-Excel, MS-Word, MS-PowerPoint.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with peers, management, and vendors.
