- Manage and administrate telecommunications infrastructure and its associated software, including VoIP, call management systems, voice mail, interactive voice response, and video conferencing systems.
- Develop long range telecommunications development plans in accordance with stated business strategy.
- Design and oversee telecommunications projects with a goal to improving or expanding the current infrastructure.
- Supervise and evaluates work performance of switchboard operators and Technology Support clerical staff.
- Oversee the scheduling of common use meeting rooms such as the corporate boardroom and executive meeting room.
- Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and training plans for telecommunication systems administration and appropriate use.
- Develops and trains switchboard staff to perform routine and complex tasks involving the operation of a switchboard.
- Work with end users to establish service level agreements based on user phone system requirements.
- Work with corporate and program administrative personnel related to switchboard traffic patterns and their role/effect on the desired level of service.
- Administer add, move, and change requests from end users as well as new line installations as required.
- Monitor and identify capacity and performance issues for telecommunications traffic to ensure continued, uninterrupted operation of telecommunications systems.
- Generate telecommunications usage and inventory reports as required.
- Plans, organizes, and schedules the activities of a switchboard center based on analysis of telephone use patterns
- Conduct testing and development disaster recovery plans to detect faults, minimize malfunctions, and backup systems.
- Assess need for any system reconfigurations (minor or significant), make recommendations, and execute them as required.
- Conduct research on emerging products, services, protocols, and standards in support of telecommunications equipment procurement and development efforts.
- Interact and negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure communications products and services in a timely and professional manner.
- Administer and manage accounts and contracts for telecommunications equipment and services. Prepare telecommunications budget recommendations.
- Receive, prioritize, and respond to incoming work orders, calls, and/or emails regarding telecommunication system and device related issues.
- Provides escalation support and assistance regarding the needs and questions of network users concerning their access to system resources and the operation of various software programs.
- Accurately document all work orders and system changes.
- Implements techniques to improve the delivery of services.
- Attends meetings conferences & workshops as assigned, performs special projects and other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Undergraduate degree in the field of telecommunications, computer science or equivalent related work experience.
- Minimum 5 years of experience managing corporate telecommunication systems.
- Previous supervision experience.
- Strong technical knowledge of VoIP systems (Avaya IP Office Nortel BCM50, 8×8, GoTo Connect, etc.) including voicemail and call accounting systems.
- Strong hands-on knowledge of the installation, implementation, and maintenance of telecommunications equipment, and voice/data equipment.
- Technical knowledge of current telecommunications practices, protocols, and principles.
- Ability to research, prepare, and present cost estimates, budget reports, capacity forecasting, and systems upgrade recommendations.
