Job Summary
Responsible for operation of communication equipment; receiving and handling incoming calls for complaints, police emergency and administrative requests; and dispatching law enforcement units. Records all on-duty officers’ activities and monitors activity of units; operates teletype and computer terminal to obtain and transmit information. Monitors surveillance cameras in Central Command Monitoring Center. Relays all information to supervisors in emergency cases; maintains records on S.C. Uniform Traffic Citations, SCPA Parking Tickets and Decals; acts as a receptionist for the police department.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Monitors Ocularis Video Surveillance System and Access Control Systems and responds to alarms and logsactivities.
  • Uses computer-aided dispatch systems to update and retrieve information. Determines the nature and location ofemergencies and forwards fire, ambulance or other emergency vehicles.
  • Receives and processes emergency calls, keeps contact with units on assignment.
  • Receives requests for information regarding vehicle registration, driving records.
  • Dispatches SCPA Police to investigate complaints, records and maintains all call records regarding incidents,accidents, complaints and officer activity.
  • Tests equipment daily to ensure it is operating properly; ensures repairs are initiated immediately fordiscrepancies.
  • Enters data and queries the National Crime Information Center as needed for screening teams and for decalapplicants and temporary vehicle passes.
  • Assists with decal applications and temporary vehicle passes to include administering MTSA training andensuring applications are completed properly. In accordance with 33 CFR, has knowledge through training andshows proficiency with security measures outlined in 105.210.
  • Maintains database on parking citations, state issued citations and incident reports.
  • Coordinates with the Gate Officers, FSO’s, Tenants and Users on access control measures, expected deliveriesand visitors to ensure that unauthorized persons do not gain access to facilities.
  • Enforces Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) standards.
  • Conduct TWIC enrollments for internal and external customers accessing the facilities.
  • Assists with maintaining up to date work schedule and payroll data entry.

Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience
•High School Diploma or equivalent•Must be certified in the use of NCIC, SLED, and FBI information systems and must maintain certification or must successfully complete NCIC certification within the first six months of employment.•A valid driver’s license is required to operate a Ports Authority owned licensed motor vehicle.•Must be able to obtain and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) Card under the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) guidelines.

  • Basic computer skills are required. Must be able to type at least 35 wpm.
  • Must be able to deal courteously, tactfully, and effectively with the public during stressful emergency situations.
  • Must be able to multi-task.
  • Must be Customer Service Oriented.
  • Must be able to deal with sensitive information in a discreet and professional manner, maintainingconfidentiality.
  • Must be punctual and dependable.
  • Must be able to understand and follow simple oral and written directions.
  • Should be neat in appearance, have good communication skills, good character, and the ability to deal fairly andeffectively with others.
  • Should have no felony against him/her as recorded by FBI or SLED.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Individual must be willing to work flexible schedule including overtime. Schedule of work varies and mayinclude weekends, night shifts and holidays. Schedule of work may change with minimal notice.
  • Works rotating shifts and assignments.
  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time and occasionally stand
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds
  • Must be able to walk up and down stairs
  • Vision is required to analyze, and process various forms and documents utilized within the framework ofperforming assigned tasks
  • Hearing is required to adequately communicate with employees, vendors, etc. Must be able to pass a hearingtest.
  • Must have ability to verbally communicate clearly with employees, vendors, etc.
  • Must have ability to operate a computer keyboard and view a computer monitor screen
