Position: Edmonton – Telecommunications Specialist – Contractor OR FT Employee

Inferno Solar Ltd. is an Alberta-based solar company. We install solar systems that make a difference – 100’s and 1,000’s of panels at a time. Our projects are on commercial buildings – flat roofs and sheet metal roofs, in Calgary, Edmonton, and smaller cities and towns across Alberta.

We use heavy machinery, run lots of pipe, and pull big wire. We get it done, do it right, make it look the best it possibly can, and have fun doing it.

We need a motivated person, whether a contractor or small business owner, to partner with us to design, procure, install and commission communications equipment for solar & EV charging projects.

We would also be interested in a candidate with deep experience in this field that wants to pursue an electrical apprenticeship and can fill the rest of their time on our construction and/or maintenance teams.

The work will be primarily located in Edmonton and surrounding area, with occasional travel to projects across Alberta, BC, and Saskatchewan.

Responsibilities:

1. Take ownership of communications scope for solar & EV charging projects

2. Design, price, install & commission telecommunication equipment including: cellular modems, wifi modems, ethernet switches, structured cabling, antennas, SCADA, dataloggers, data acquisition devices, gateways, metering systems

3. Assist our team with troubleshooting & maintenance requests

4. Be a friendly, knowledgeable representative of the company to clients on site

5. Interpret single line diagrams and electrical layout drawings

6. Work at heights & in inclement weather (wind, rain, sun, cold, heat)

7. Perform job site safety assessments

8. Adhere to safety policies

Qualifications:

1. 5+ years communications equipment knowledge and experience

2. Alignment with company values & vision

3. Commercial construction experience

4. Ability to handle physical workload exposed to the weather

5. Class 5 drivers license with clean driving record

6. Ability and desire to work out of town for projects, durations of a few days up to multiple weeks, with appropriate time off to follow. Out of town work is compensated with LOA, paid travel, and accommodations covered by Inferno Solar.

Assets:

1. Solar installation, troubleshooting, or maintenance experience

2. Alberta Journeyman or Red Seal Electrician

3. Solar training (SAIT, NAIT, CanSIA, NABCEP, SEI, etc)

4. Valid safety tickets (First Aid, AWP, Fall Arrest)

5. NAIT Alternative Energy Graduate

Salary: $36.00-$44.00 per hour
