We are currently seeking an End User Device Technician to join our IT Team at our Goderich Mine site in Goderich, Ontario. This position is a temp-to-permanent position.
The Goderich Mine is located 1,800 feet under Lake Huron on the shores of Goderich, Ontario. It is the largest underground salt mine in the world and has been operating since 1959. This location employs over 500 people and annually produces 6.5 million tons of highway de-icing salt and chemical salt. It is transports product to customers around the Great Lakes and along the St. Lawrence Seaway via vessel, rail and roads. The salt is also used to make plastics, detergents, disinfectants, and other important products.
Goderich is named Canada’s Prettiest Town and is best known for its stunning sunsets. Goderich is a lakeside community of 8,000 people located approximately 1 hour from London & Stratford, Ontario and a 1 ½ hour drive from Kitchener-Waterloo.
Summary: The End User Device Technician is responsible for the planning, installing, configuring and maintaining of hardware and software systems. Requires working with end users and other ITS functions to analysis and find alternative resolutions to issues. The Technician role requires a service oriented mentality, high sense of ownership of the problems and requests assigned with a focus on managing and resolving issues in alignment with the SLAs.
How will you contribute to the team?
To perform this role successfully, the candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following
Provide 2nd and 3rd level end-user technical support on client hardware systems, mobile devices, computer peripherals, telecommunications equipment, and client/ server/ cloud application software.
System administration for on premise and off-premise business applications.
Email account administration, i.e., account creation and management and distribution lists in Exchange. User account and computer object creation and management in Active Directory.
Incident and service request ticket routing and problem identification.
Configures, installs, and maintains client and server hardware and peripheral components such as monitors, keyboards, printers, and disk drives onsite or remotely.
Develops and maintains records by documenting procedures used for system processes, configurations, and standards and following the incident, problem, and change management processes.
Qualifications
You bring to the role:
2-Year degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent experience and up to four years related work experience required.
Preferred Certification(s): ITIL Foundations; Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist; Certified ServiceNow Administrator, Microsoft Certified System Administrator (MCSA), CompTIA A+ and/or Network +.
Experience supporting, implementing and administering networks such as Microsoft Windows 2008+, Active Directory and Group Policies (GPO)
Experience supporting Windows 7 and above desktops/laptops/tablets
Demonstrated experience of building Operating system images for multiple hardware platforms
Strong Systems Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) and WSUS experience
Demonstrated experience with operating system and application patching / updates
Experience with Citrix supported environments a plus
Experience with Android and iPhone smartphones
Strong knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policies and scripting
Experience to develop workflows based on incident, change, and problem procedures
Demonstrated experience with IT Service Management tool responsibilities
How Often Are You Here?
This is a Monday-Friday position working 8 hour days.
This position may be expected to work underground as needed.
If you do not live nearby, you will be required to relocate (mention relocation agreement if applicable to position).
