JDR Technologies is looking to hire Top Hands to help teach, guide and run crews from the sky! Offering competitive wages, benefits, and a fun place to work. Our technicians travel from 1-4 days with the occasional 5 day trip. We are home weekends allowing a better work/home life balance.

As a Tech III (or Top Slide Lead), you will be responsible for managing the top of the tower crew(s). In addition to representing our company in a professional manner, you will be the face of our company when interacting with suppliers, customers and various vendors during installations and troubleshooting projects.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • A Tech III will seldom run crew’s contingent upon the needs of the business

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining, repairing, and occasionally installing various wireless tower types
  • Assists in the installation, maintenance, and de-installation of all aspects of wireless cell site foundations including: grounding conduits, electrical installations, site de-installation of antennas, coax, and cabinets
  • Climbing ladders of various heights and types
  • Construction, troubleshooting, calibration, testing, and maintenance of telecommunications equipment
  • Operating test equipment and data reporting
  • Performing additional maintenance or upgrades on out of season equipment
  • Working with a crew and responding to service calls in a timely manner
  • Must be able to work overtime to include Saturdays, Sundays and evening hours
  • Be able to travel 40% of the time, with extensive time away from the corporate location

Requirements:

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Understand and enforce OSHA safety standards (OSHA-10 Certification Preferred)
  • Must have Competent Tower Climber and Rescuer Certification
  • Advanced knowledge of knots and tower rigging necessary
  • Use of lifts and aerial platform equipment
  • Working knowledge of Fall Protection practice and procedures and tower life saving techniques
  • Must work independently yet in a team environment with limited supervision
  • Must be able to pull his/her own body weight plus equipment weight up a vertical tower repeatedly for long periods of time
  • Must be willing to work long and unpredictable hours (10-hour days are not unusual) and travel out-of-state where necessary
  • Position requires working outdoors in all types of weather
  • Installation of up-top equipment including masts, supports, antennas, RRUs, cabling, bolting, shooting proper azimuth within tolerances, labeling, picture-taking, documentation, plumb and tilt readings with smart level, etc.
  • Skilled in computers for submitting Daily Work Reports and/or Time Sheets
  • Ability to be a “lead” for the crew when / where required
  • Mentor and knowledge share with lesser experienced team members
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in the industry is preferred
  • Good oral and written communication skills to include computer skills to send and receive emails, daily reports

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma /GED and 1-2 years tower construction
  • Valid Driver’s License – strongly preferred/may be required depending upon the location in which the position is required to work
  • Knowledge of standard knots
  • Basic computer skills required for equipment programing and site closeouts
  • Sweep & PIM testing certifications (practical knowledge/skill test may be performed during interview)

  • Frequently the employee is required to lift or carry up to 10 or 25 lbs., and occasionally up to 50 or 100 lbs.
  • Able to climb to and work at heights exceeding 300’. The employee needs to have good vision for close work, distance, color discrimination, peripheral, and depth perception
