What you’ll do:
  • Day to Day support for 3rd party virtualized VMware applications installed in Sky data centers
  • Collaborate closely with suppliers, Access Team, and business customers on changes to the applications required
  • Support Out of Hours routine implementation of changes in the sets of applications and services
  • Write and maintain scripts to support the applications, either UNIX shell script or in common scripting languages (Perl, python, PHP etc.)
  • Monitor, update and maintain Access team applications to ensure underlying databases, operating systems, and associated technology components are in support and aligned with Sky Cyber Security and regulatory requirements.
  • Handle incidents related to these applications to conclusion, working with teams across Sky to identify and resolve issues across the platform efficiently.
  • Build effective working relationships with a variety of infrastructure and application teams to ensure that Access Team applications deliver consistent and high-quality service to internal and end customers.
What you’ll bring:
  • Proven work experience as a system support engineer
  • Experience in VMware ESXi essential
  • Written and verbal communication skills and the ability to effectively present solutions to stakeholders
  • Unix sys admin or support experience for a Telco/ISP/Enterprise is desirable
  • Experience in solving issues with REST and SOAP API, XML and YAML
  • Experience with Cloud Computing (AWS, GCP and Azure) a distinct advantage
  • Familiarity with fundamental networking/distributed computing environment concepts; including TCP/IP connections, HTTP Protocol, SSL, firewalls, VLANs, Proxy enablement, DNS, Load balancing.
  • Excellent technical and creative problem-solving skills to fix and address system issues.
