Field Inspector/OSP Engineer

The primary responsibility of the Field Inspector/OSP Engineer revolves around the construction and maintenance of plant infrastructure, design, and engineering as well as providing a route analysis of telecommunications outside plant. These engineers are the backbone of telecom and service provider companies since they are the primary designers of the entire network.

Responsibilities:

  • Conducting field engineering activities responsible for planning, designing, and obtaining permits for new cable routes
  • Conduct National Electric Safety Code inspections on joint use utility poles.
  • Work as part of a multi-faceted team consisting of engineering, design, and project management, all with a common interest of delivering results to the client.
  • Coordinate with the Department Manager, project manager, drafting and/ or GIS personnel to produce construction drawings to be used to construct the infrastructure.
  • Conduct field engineering services required to prepare permit drawings, OSP construction drawings, and final as-built drawings in electronic format per customer specifications
  • Recommend final route based on most economical solution and permitting agency’s requirements.
  • Research and evaluate various route options associated with the projects. Research shall include aerial and underground options, existing customer conduit and other third-party conduit.
  • Maintain safe working habits and conditions according to regulations and policies

Qualifications:

  • 2-3 years of experience in the OSP Engineering field
  • Familiar with current NESC code compliance
  • Prior experience of aerial and underground construction methods and engineering requirements
  • Cable placement and splicing methods and practices experience
  • Must have working knowledge or experience with Telecommunications fiber optic and coax network and systems
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment background check and drug test
  • Effective communication skills
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Ability to travel and Work extended hours; overtime and weekends as needed

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity in permitting requirements for state and local agencies

Applicants are required to pass all company drug testing, submit to a background check and adhere to all OSHA, state, city/municipality safety requirements as required.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $17.00 – $29.00 per hour
