Wireline System Planner On of our client in the Telco Sector, PROCOM is looking for a Wireline System Planner.
Wireline System Planner – Job Description

• Management of the HFC (Hybrid Fibre Coax)
• HFC circuit assignments, HFC records management and HFC network documentation including HFC IRU records, splice logs, HFC counts and availability, loopback, splice and coupler locations, termination cabinets and panel locations
• OTDR/CD/PMD traces, loss measurements and other HFC characterization specifications
• Provide HFC network design alternatives and assist in optimizing HFC network capital and operating costs
• Perform analysis of and recommendations for different HFC network technical options
• Prepare HFC cost estimates (FERs) and produce CAs, BOM and POs for HFC national or inter regional projects
• Coordinate spending and timelines
• Ensure projected overruns are escalated in timely fashion
• Joint HFC planning and provides liaison to fiber users with Wireless and other 3rd parties for fiber allocation and IRUs
• Provide input to engineering plans for HFC network expansions/upgrades in a timely manner to allow implementation to be within specification, on time and within budget
• Assist in ensuring engineering plans meet HFC network needs in terms of reliability and capacity, and ensure the HFC Network is built for ease of use from an operations perspective
• Assist in providing documents that assist other departments e.g., RFQ for implementation
• Provide engineering support for the HFC Network and the implementation of new engineering plans
• Provide engineering support for the selection of routes to ensure optimum cost effectiveness and performance, and in the preparation of construction and permit drawings and bill of materials for new plant and forced projects
• Provide engineering support for the operation, maintenance and restoration of the HFC network
• Accurately document details of HFC Network topology
• Participate as lead for certain phases of complex HFC network projects
• Provide input for the preparation for technical presentations and proposals on the HFC Network
• provide input or advice related to HFC network technical issues

Wireline System Planner – Mandatory Skills

• 3-5 years of Network engineering and Planning experience
• In depth knowledge of Spatialnet and Autocad
• Experience with a major Telecom Service Provider or Cable Operator and direct involvement in building large HFC networks
• Excellent organizational, written and verbal skills
• Must have a valid driver’s license and their own vehicle (will be reimbursed for mileage from the Barrie home office to a site); Sites to visit will be in Simcoe, and Grey County; Monday-Friday (core business hours)
• Customer Service Orientation, Teamwork and Collaboration, Adaptability and Initiative
• Ability to work within a dynamic team and organize time among multiple tasks
• Communicates effectively with both technical and operations management
• Ability to prepare information and advise internal and external customers on proposed ideas, products or solutions

Wireline System Planner – Nice to Have Skills

• Education experience should include undergraduate university degree or College Diploma in electrical engineering, Telecoms Engineering or equivalent PE, CET, SCTE, BCE, BCT, or BTS certification/designation is an asset
