The Telecommunications Assembler/Installer IV builds-out wireless telecommunications cabinets to support wireless networks nationwide; typically containing a rack or cabinet, routers, electrical panels, back planes, power plants, rectifiers, surge protection panels, alarms boards, cabling, and other associated telecommunications equipment and devices. These assemblies must be fully populated, are large and complex in nature, and are assembled with attention to detail and quality needed to meet or exceed KGPCo and carrier grade customer expectations. What You’ll Do:
- Must possess all the skill level requirements of AWT Assembler Level 3.
- Must have ability to train AWT Assembler Levels 1 through 3 in all phases of electromechanical assembly.
- Electrical assembly activities including AD & DC power cabling, grounding, signal cabling, fiber connections, alarm punch downs, cable routing and lacing, and connection of batteries
- Mechanical assembly activities including conduit, Unistrut, electrical boxes, knock-outs, and other mechanical components
- Rack-and-Stack and interconnection of complex electronic components, routers, baseband units, etc.
- Must practice quality awareness and possess the ability to implement quality control processes and procedures in a carrier grade network deployment
- Must know and understand customer product requirements, including ability to read, interpret and explain engineering drawings, diagrams, schematics, and documents.
- Meet and follow KGPCo Safety practices.
- Must be able to determine and recognize material defects in both equipment and workmanship; must be able to initiate corrective actions and suggest and implement preventive actions.
- Is responsible to ensure that all documentation related to an AWT assembly job is current and legible.
- Conducts in-progress assembly and/or product audits
- Complete, distribute and file any records or documentation required by or associated with an assembly job under supervision.
- Keeps accurate materials inventory records and records of materials shipped.
- Create/build documents and diagrams to assist in AWT production using NPA, SOP or Engineering documents.
- Be prepared to build cables/alarms from available, provided stock materials.
- Package finished products according to customer shipping/packaging requirements.
- Must learn and demonstrate the proper use of hand, power, and hydraulic tools associated with telecommunications cabinet assembly
- Read and stay current on KGPCo assembly practices and documentation to include interpretation of Engineering drawings, specifications, and prints.
- Performs unpacking, checking for damaged product, inventory of all job-related materials.
- Can plan and manage assembly logistics; can execute physical assembly activities on one or more jobs simultaneously.
- Performs, as required, preliminary hardware testing in an out-of-service mode.
- May be required to perform as a designated lead in the supervision of AWT Levels 1 and 2 personnel.
- As required, must be able to use a computer and the appropriate software applications.
- Handle complex electronic components including inventory, inspect for damage or defects; physically install the components and build the cabinet assembly following customer’s engineering specifications and drawings with minimal guidance from Supervisor.
What You’ve Done or Skills You Possess:
- High School graduate or GED equivalent, or a minimum of five years of documented telecommunications electromechanical assembly experience.
- Moderate electromechanical assembly experience is strongly desired but NOT required
- Electrical/electronic experience (car stereo/home theater installs, etc.) is desired but NOT required
- Ability to pass drug & background screenings.
- Confidence in using Microsoft Office and Excel.
- Schedule personnel and workloads
- Ability to lead and teach assembly line personnel.
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure.
- Demonstrated ability to learn and understand complex electromechanical processes.
- Ability to learn, read and understand technical drawings, schematics, and documentation.
- Employee supervisory skills preferred.
- Must have a minimum of two years of AWT Assembler 3 time in grade or documented proficiency before eligible for promotion to AWT Assembler 4
