Your opportunity
This role is based in the Simulation and Digital Twin team in Deloitte Consulting. The work involves creating solutions using simulation & optimisation techniques that add value for our clients, across sectors such as aviation, automotive, retail, logistics, telecommunications, and others. We work closely with colleagues across Consulting who bring expertise in strategy, data science, visualisation and data modernisation to provide holistic and compelling solutions that offer our clients a unique way to solve some of their most challenging issues.
As a Manager/ Senior Consultant simulation engineer you will manage and provide technical guidance to less experienced colleagues. In order to be effective in this role you will need a solid foundation in both programming and simulation engineering, and ideally some understanding of data science.
Your role
Manager/Senior Consultant will have responsibility for:
- Developing strategic business solutions: play a leading role in developing and customising analytically-driven solutions
- Team Management: Lead the team to deliver actionable and strategic insight to inform business decisions driven by quantitative analysis
- Project Management: Planning and delivery of analytics workstreams as part of a larger project, ensuring the workstream achieves the agreed outcomes to a defined deadline and within budget. This includes working with all levels of client management to gain their trust and cooperation, and ensure client happiness
- Business Development: Supporting the sales process and develop analytical propositions
- Delivery: Lead and deliver workstreams across a range of projects and programmes, building statistical, predictive models and working with data analysis, data visualisation and programming tools, ensuring that strategies are delivered using change management best practices
- Supporting the management and development of our practice
- Assisting in team recruitment

Your professional experience
We are looking for a solid foundation of both programming experience in a data centric environment, and simulation engineering. A relevant background will include experience leveraging Python or similar languages to solve problems in a simulation context.
As a Manager or Senior Consultant, candidates will be expected to demonstrate considerable experience and expertise across the following areas, including demonstrable experience managing and mentoring junior team members.
You will have a strong academic background (e.g. PhD, MSc or BSc) in a STEM subject, including a data-centric programming component, or comparable professional experience. You will have relevant professional experience.
Keys skills relevant to this role include:
1. Modelling and simulation
- Conceptual and practical experience of modelling and simulation (discrete event simulations, agent-based modelling, deterministic)
- Predictive analytical methods: supervised/unsupervised learning, time series forecasting
- Optimisation
2. Coding
- Strong programming experience, preferably Python
- Data centric packages such as Pandas, Numpy, Scikit-learn
- Object Oriented Programming
- Ability to produce and maintain production ready code
- Containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Version control, for example using Git
- Implementing and/ or architecting solutions on a cloud platform (AWS, GCP, Azure)
- Visualisation (Tableau, Dash, D3 for example)
3. Other
- Ability to dissect an ambiguous problem and determine the most appropriate simulation/data science technique to use
- Stakeholder/client management
- Experience managing a team and mentoring junior colleagues
- Providing technical leadership/ownership of a project and its deliverables
- Communicating technical information to non-technical audiences
- Desire to work in a fast-paced commercial environment
