What Your Job Will Be Like
We are seeking a Project Manager to support the Applied Strategic Technologies (AST) Portfolio within 5960. Key skills include the ability to proactively engage (spoken, written communications) with Sponsor counterparts in the execution of the SIPP Tailored Project Management lifecycle. Timely and adept execution of proposal/cost estimation, funds-in, establishing Work Breakdown Structures, setting of goals, objectives, and milestones, monitoring/controlling all phases of work, and tracking final deliverables through project closeout. Concurrent development and implementation of organizational process assets to be tailored to the AST program in 5960 is also required. Ability to establish relationship and build rapport with multiple individuals supporting the AST sub-program to include 10659, procurement, the Field Intelligence Element, and 5960 management is a must.
On any given day, you be called on to:
- Plan and direct projects, coordinating as required with external customers and other centers within Sandia
- Define project scope, goals, and deliverables that support customer requirements and negotiating those deliverables with management and stakeholders
- Apply standard principles and techniques in developing project plans, detailed Work Breakdown Structures, schedules, negotiating work packages, and assigning work in order to complete the project.
- Manage portfolio budget change requests in close coordination with internal management and external sponsors
- Serve as an interface to customers and sponsors, especially for project status and reporting purposes
- Produce project cost estimates and identify project funding and other resource needs
- Implement and manage a risk register and configuration management process as required
Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite
Qualifications We Require
- Masters degree in Business Administration (MBA)
- Active DOE Q-level security clearance (or DOD equivalent) to start and the ability to obtain and maintain an SCI Security Clearance
Qualifications We Desire
- Active SCI Clearance
- Experience with Strategic Intelligence Partnership Projects (SIPP)
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
- Demonstrated ability to work in a diverse team
- Demonstrated ability to understand the scope of complex projects

Security Clearance
Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q security clearance to start, or equivalent active security clearance with another U.S. government agency (e.g., DOD). Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants for employment need to be able to maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.
