Full Job Description

Position Title: Sr. Network & Security Engineer

Salary Range: $90,000 – $110,000;

Job Responsibilities:

Senior Network/Security Engineer will be responsible for design, operation and implementation of the NYS Assembly network infrastructure. The senior Network/Security Engineer will also be responsible in assisting employees, vendors and agency partners in resolving technology related issues.

• Design network and security solutions for NYS Assembly projects.
• Perform installation and upgrades of network equipment.
• Configure, maintain, and manage existing and new network equipment.
• Complete research in order to identify new equipment and applications that would be advantageous for the NYS Assembly to adopt.
• Ensure current security policy is followed.
• Assist in updating security policies to adapt to evolving threats.
• Analyze data from security software applications for endpoint vulnerabilities and indications of compromise.
• Manage requests using a ticketing system.
• Other reasonably assigned duties.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science.
• 5+ years of previous experience with Routing, Switching, 802.11 Wireless, VoIP, Cybersecurity, Collaboration, and Network Management Products.
• Experience in data packet capture and analysis.
• Ability to troubleshoot security, networking, client server, WiFi, and VPN issues.
• Working knowledge of EIGRP, BGP, SSL, IPSEC, and 802.11 protocols.
• Ability to quickly learn and use new technologies, as well as how to integrate new technologies.
• Possesses knowledge of best practices for deployment and operations of Cybersecurity.
• Ability to troubleshoot security, networking, client server, WiFi, and VPN issues.
• Communicates clearly and effectively.
• Manages time efficiently and multi-tasks effectively.
• Exceptional customer service skills
• Work calmly and methodically under pressure and against tight deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certification from Cisco, Microsoft, ISC, VMWare or Linux/Unix.
• Familiar with certificate-based authentication as well as MFA solutions.
• Familiar with the telecommunications service offerings, such as MPLS, ELAN, and SDWan.
• Familiar with fiber optic cabling and structured wiring solutions.

Pay: $90,000.00 – $110,000.00 per year
