Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in telecommunications or related field and two years of experience in the telecommunications industry; or a high school diploma/GED and four years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Experience & proficiency working with Avaya Release 8.x, 6.x.
  • Experience & proficiency with Avaya Site Administration.
  • Expertise & a strong understanding of Voice/VoIP Devices and their configurations.
  • Experience & proficiency troubleshooting tickets.
  • Troubleshoot voice quality issues and diagnosing.
  • Experience & proficiency of Avaya Suite of products (Communication Manager, Session Manager, System Manager, Utility Server, IP Office, CMS, Aura Messaging, IX Messaging, AA Messaging, Intuity Audix).
  • Knowledge of peripheral systems such as overhead paging interfaces, media Gateway G450, G650 systems a plus.
  • Able to communicate clearly and professional with customers.
  • Critical thinker, organized, ability to solve problems.
  • Strong utilization of Avaya Support resource documentation.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.


Current valid driver’s license and good driving record required. Based on the Virginia DMV point system, record must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date, or one major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months. Out of state driving records must be obtained by the applicant and presented at time of interview. Record must reflect at least three years of history and be dated within 30 days of interview date. Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required.
This position is also subject to working in high security areas governed by the US Department of Justice’s “Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy” and therefore requires successfully passing a more stringent criminal background check.

Duties

The Senior Telecommunications Technician is responsible for the administration, maintenance and installation of Avaya system products, problem diagnosis, repair of a full range of telecommunication equipment encompassing analog, digital, VOIP and SIP technologies.

Provide First Choice global level customer service support to IST Help Desk Telecom Service Request and incidents.

Communicates with end users to determine requested support. Maintain IST Help Desk, Telecom Service Desk service level agreements with appropriate reporting and documentation. Assist with project task and leadership as assigned. Perform other work as required.

Must maintain personal mobile technology as a condition of employment.
